Uploading a document to a lead 

You may need to add documents to a lead – for example policy documents, signed paperwork etc.  


To upload a document:

  1. Navigate to the customer's lead.
  2.  Click the New button on the Lead Summary Page.
  3. Select Document from the drop down.
  4. You will now see the Add Document Screen.
  5. Click on the Choose File button. 
  6. Select the document you want to upload.
  7. Enter a Description of the document.
  8. Click Add to upload the document to the lead.
  9. You can now see the document in the lead's activity stream. 


Please Note:  

The maximum document size you can upload is 64MB.

There are no restrictions on the document types a user can upload to a lead.

You can ask customer's to upload their own documents directly to their lead using the secure document upload feature. For more information about this see collecting documents from your customers.

Deleting a document

The ability to delete documents is a user permission which can be set as follows:

  1. Navigate to Settings > Users and click Edit next to the user you are looking to give or remove the option from.
  2. To grant the permission, ensure you tick the box Enable delete notes, calls & documents  under the Managing Leads section.
  3. To revoke to permission, untick the box Enable delete notes, calls & documents  under the Managing Leads section.

A user with the required permission will see a delete icon next to the document name.

Click the delete icon to permanently delete the document from the lead.

Editing a document description

To edit the description of a document:


1. Click on the pencil icon beside the document name. 


2. Enter a new description for the document and click Update.

Viewing a document

To preview a document:

  1. Click the view button beside the document name.
  2. A new browser window will open showing a preview of the document.

Notes: 

Some web browsers allow you to choose how to handle documents of different types. The preview feature works best if you allow all file types to be viewed in the browser.

Not all document types are able to be previewed in the browser, if this is the case, the preview button will not be available. You will be able to view these by downloading the document as described below.

Downloading a document

To download a document:

  1. Click the download button beside the document name.
  2. This will download the document and the user will be able to view this by opening the download.
  3. The downloaded document will be in the same format it was uploaded.
