Creating leads by email

To create a lead by email, send a plain text email to leads@flg-mail1.co.uk using your template.

Find your example template (similar to the one below) under Tools > Capture Leads > From a website > Continue > capture method 'Email'. Make the correct selections for Lead Group, Introducer and Marketing Source while you're there.

Troubleshooting Errors

If there's a problem, an error email is sent to the user listed under Settings > Configuration > Preferences > Notifications. If you haven't received an error email, the cause is likely one of the following:

• Not plain text — make sure the email is sent as plain text. Most clients use HTML but also send a plain text part, which usually works; if not, set your email to send as plain text.
• Wrong recipient field — the address must be in the 'To' field, not CC or BCC, and 'To' should contain only that one address.
• Missing required fields — the email must include accountid: and key: (and you should also include leadgroup:).
• Missing name fields — provide a First Name and Last Name, plus any of your 'required' fields.

Still Can't Get It Working?

If you've ruled out the other capture methods and can't use the email API — because the email can't be formatted correctly or isn't plain text — consider using an email parser instead.
